2006 Annual Conference

The 2006 Annual Conference was held at VFW Post 3193, 3020 7th
Street/Hwy 31 N., in Clanton, Alabama.
- 17 member were present
- Opening remarks were presented by the National Commander and the other
Board of Directors
- A prayer was given by Chaplain Butler
- Saluting the flag was conducted daily
- Many stories and introductions were presented by USCOC members
- Chaplain Mills and Chaplain Tutrone explained the progress and problem
areas that were made in the State of Pennsylvania
- Chaplain Lepine presented a talk on local and National VOAD and
Volunteers of America
- Chaplain Butler was inducted in the Society of Four Chaplain by
Chaplain Tutrone and Chaplain Mills
- Chaplain Butler conducted a Sunday service and spoke on mentoring our
members
- Chaplain Lepine spoke on mentoring and how to build Brigades and the
need to help lower Commanders an new members
- Chaplain Hepler spoke on his membership in the local VOAD’S, FEMA and
Emergency Management program
- Chaplain Butler made the front page news paper (the Becon) on his
carrying the Cross on the local highway.
- Handouts were passed out by Chaplain Butler, Chaplain Allen, Chaplain
Patrick and Chaplain Lepine
- A new Chaplain Clergy shirt for Class B Uniforms was presented by Chaplain Allen (see the
Uniform Illustration page)
- Acceptance of legal Ordinations were discussed
- Dues were discussed but voted down and instead we are requesting
donations
- 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) program was discussed Any donation over $25.00 must be
sent to USCOC HQ and a receipt issued
- State pins are now authorized to be worn on the name tag pocket. These
will be ordered through pinmark.com
- Members were encouraged to join local VOAD’s and local Emergency
Management teams
- ICS and CERT Courses were discussed and it was agreed that these
courses must be taken by all leaders and involved members of the Corps.
- It
was also discussed that these areas will soon be under the department of
Homeland security and may cost money to take the course
- Promotions were made to:
- Chaplain Lepine to LTG
- Chaplain Tutrone to MG
- Chaplain Butler to BG
- Chaplain McMenamin to BG
- Awards were presented to many members (list to be
added later)
- Board Meetings were conducted. Some of the items
discussed were:
- Issues resolved
- Changing to Gold Rank and Name tags
- Elimination of the 1LT and LTC rank
- Awards program and need for a manager
- The need for an disaster operations plan for the USCOC
- Answers were prepared for Chaplain Jordan’s Grant program
- Vote of having next years conference in Virginia 9 – 10 June 2007
- Membership package proposal was approved
- We need movement in the G-2 area, Chaplain Tutrone will be calling
Chaplain Sweeney about background checks
- Chaplain Young was discussed. He will be the Civil affairs and Disaster
coordinator
- Chaplain Jordan can not wear two hats, Communications coordinator will
be assigned to another person
- Press releases were discussed
- The garrison cap and other headgear were discussed and the felt patches
voted out.
